Our client has invented and patented software that plants buzz on the Internet for any business. First, write intriguing copy that explains WHY businesses must get their story ‘out there’ on social networking sites; WHAT this software tool does, how it works (white papers, brochure copy). Then plan, write, and polish user guides and user-friendly admin. guides for customers who apply security settings, configure the software (cloud-based) to get out their message and meet their marketing goals.

Job description:

Work with not-so-bad existing installation, configuration, operations instructions for a fairly simple electronic controller. Write clear, active-verb steps for building facilities personnel. Interview engineers on site to understand, work with new products, then write crystal-clear, 24-carat, stand-alone instructions. If necessary, the company can provide wiring diagrams and schematics for you to integrate into the small user guides. Ideally, you can produce sharp, simple graphics of pin positions. Knowledge of InDesign a big plus.

Have tech. pubs. experience writing user guides for hardware, equipment, or medical devices, experience producing data sheets with specs in InDesign. The V.P. of Engineering (who writes the user guides currently) needs a professional technical writer to take over. He can provide schematics and wiring diagrams; you must know how to interview engineers, experiment with the (fairly simple) equipment, compose and organize clear directions for customers in numbered steps.
